at a bare minimum, you need a fee-only, financial advisor who follows the fiduciary standard (puts your financial needs above his/her own). check out http://www.napfa.org to find one.
Something that I don't understand is the way that Dave hates debt yet advises investing your money in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Investing your money, essentially, is giving your money to someone who in turn becomes indebted to you. The promise is to pay returns based on market fluctuations, yes, but that in of itself is debt, right?
